Abstract

In January 2025, the year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate in Sulawesi Selatan was recorded at 0.10 percent, with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.46. The highest inflation occurred in Luwu Timur Regency at 0.87 percent, with a CPI of 106.13, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Wajo Regency at -0.64 percent, with a CPI of 105.73.
The y-on-y inflation occurred due to rising prices, as indicated by the increase in the index of several expenditure groups, including food, beverages, and tobacco by 1.32 percent; clothing and footwear by 1.51 percent; household equipment, appliances, and routine maintenance by 1.35 percent; health by 0.74 percent; transportation by 0.41 percent; recreation, sports, and culture by 1.31 percent; education by 1.20 percent; food and beverage services/restaurants by 3.1 percent; and personal care and other services by 7.34 percent. Meanwhile, some expenditure groups experienced deflation, namely the housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group, which declined by 9.31 percent, and the information, communication, and financial services group, which decreased by 0.36 percent.
The month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation rate in January 2025 was recorded at 0.75 percent, while the year-to-date (y-to-d) deflation rate for Sulawesi Selatan in January 2025 was also 0.75 percent.
