Abstract

  • The export value through ports in Sulawesi Selatan in December 2024 reached US$170.47 million, an increase of 0.95 percent compared to exports in November 2024, which were recorded at US$168.87 million. Furthermore, the export value in December 2024 rose by 1.72 percent compared to the same month in the previous year, which was recorded at US$167.59 million.  
  • The top five commodity groups exported in December 2024 were nickel; iron and steel; fish and shrimp; oilseeds; and cocoa/chocolate, with respective distribution percentages of 46.87 percent, 18.11 percent, 8.55 percent, 6.22 percent, and 4.79 percent. Most exports in December 2024 were destined for Japan, China, the United States, Malaysia, and Taiwan, with respective proportions of 49.79 percent, 29.99 percent, 3.49 percent, 3.02 percent, and 2.96 percent.  
  • Cumulatively, Sulawesi Selatan's export value for January–December 2024 amounted to US$2,038.97 million, a decline of 8.09 percent compared to the same period in 2023.  
  • The import value of goods unloaded through several ports in Sulawesi Selatan in December 2024 reached US$140.27 million, an increase of 77.79 percent compared to the import value in November 2024, which was recorded at US$78.89 million. Meanwhile, compared to December 2023 (US$78.66 million), the import value increased by 78.32 percent.  
  • The top five commodity groups imported in December 2024 were cereals; prepared animal feed; mineral fuels; sugar and confectionery; and machinery/mechanical appliances, with respective distribution percentages of 14.56 percent, 12.84 percent, 11.46 percent, 7.64 percent, and 6.55 percent. Most imports in December 2024 came from China, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, and Singapore, with respective proportions of 46.57 percent, 12.92 percent, 10.08 percent, 9.59 percent, and 8.03 percent.  
  • Makassar Port was the main port for unloading imported goods in December 2024, with a total value of US$126.40 million, accounting for 90.12 percent of the total import value for the month.  
  • Cumulatively, Sulawesi Selatan's import value for January–December 2024 reached US$1,109.51 million; an increase of 2.24 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
