Abstract

  • In September 2024, the level of inequality in South Sulawesi's population expenditure as measured by the Gini Ratio is 0.360. This figure has decreased when compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2024 which was 0.363.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.369, down from 0.373 in March 2024 and also down from 0.386 in March 2023.
  • The Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2024 was recorded at 0.330, up from 0.325 in March 2024 but down from 0.339 in March 2023.
  • Based on the World Bank's measure of inequality, the distribution of expenditure in the bottom 40 percent group is 18.71 percent. This means that population expenditure in September 2024 is in the category of low inequality. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure was recorded at 18.08 percent, which means it is classified as a low inequality category. For rural areas, the figure was recorded at 19.99 percent, which is also classified as low inequality.
