On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Suntono as Chief of BPS for South Sulawesi Province released the Official News on Statistics for the Development of the Inflation of 5 (five) Cities Combined (Bulukumba, Watampone, Makassar, Parepare, and Palopo) October 2022.
In October 2022, there was a year on year (yoy) inflation of five cities combined in South Sulawesi (Bulukumba, Watampone, Makassar, Parepare, and Palopo) of 6.12 percent with a Consumer Price Index of 113.05. Of the five CPI cities in South Sulawesi, the highest yoy inflation occurred in Parepare at 7.66 with a CPI of 114.90 and the lowest yoy inflation occurred in Bulukumba at 4.70 with a CPI of 112.83.
Inflation occurred due to an increase in the price index in 10 expenditure groups, namely the food, beverage and tobacco group by 6.74 percent; clothing and footwear group by 3.03 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups by 2.77 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 4.96 percent; health group by 2.53 percent; transportation group by 19.17 percent; recreation, culture and sports groups by 3.13 percent; education group by 2.47 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 4.33 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 5.44 percent. The information, communication and financial services group experienced deflation of 0.16 percent.
The main commodities contributing to yoy inflation in October 2022 include gasoline, air transportation, cooking oil, broiler eggs, filtered kretek cigarettes, urban transportation and cayenne pepper.
The month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate in October 2022 recorded deflation of 0.18 percent and the year-to-date (ytd) inflation rate of 4.76 percent.
